My name is Ariana, and I’m an illustrator and animator who draws bright and cute things! I like to bring joy to my audience through my art, which a lot of the time I do through humor. Other times, I like to play with contrast and vivid colors to elicit other emotional reactions.

Groove Channel is an ode to the late 90’s rhythm game genre, taking inspiration from Parappa the Rapper, Bust A Groove, and Pop’n Music. I wanted to take a step back from the minimalistic approach that’s so common in contemporary rhythm games and harken back to the early genre that was ruled by unique character designs, quirky narratives, and simplistic gameplay.

The idea behind my thesis work, Groove Channel, is that I wanted to combine everything I’ve learned during my time spent at Moore. Animation & Game Arts is a broad major where we learn a variety of different skills. However, there’s a belief in the animation and game industry that you can only enjoy and practice one skill or focus. Groove Channel is my stand against that mindset. I want it to be proof that you can put the time in to practice multiple skills, and have them come together to produce a unified end product.
