ASA LITTLEFIELD
BFA ILLUSTRATION
(SHE / HER / HERS)
Like illustrators who are telling a story that connects to their lives or the lives of others, anthropologists observe the world and how it is shaped by people. Anthropologists step outside of their own cultural biases and observe their surroundings, always asking why and how things are shaped by people. This has inspired me to see the world more like an anthropologist, which has influenced what stories I want to share through illustration. I hope to gather an audience of people like me who want better representation in more relatable stories. With this project, I want to challenge what is typically written as fantasy by using contemporary fashion and society as inspiration for the clothes, the world, and the challenges these characters will face.
Philadelphia's close-knit art and science communities have encouraged me to explore paths of illustration and design in educational settings, as well as industries such as entertainment and storytelling.
