Dear Nicholli – I am so pleased that you have been chosen to receive the Diana and Clarence Stern Award for 3-d work.  My mother, Diana Stern, was a sculptor who studied with Paul Manship, the sculptor who created the Aviator memorial, just across from Moore.  My father Clarence was her greatest fan and sculpture was his favorite medium, as it is mine.  I find your work very exciting; filled with vitality and power.  Its core element, coal, is particularly representative of your home state, West Virginia, and adopted state, Pennsylvania, whose history is both scarred and illuminated by King Coal. I only wish that I could meet you in person and see your award-winning work up close.  I hope to do both when we are free to leave our homes.  In the meantime I shall take pleasure in viewing your work by the links I have, and in knowing that the prize bearing my parents' names has a most worthy recipient for 2020.  Congratulations and all good wishes for your success!

ASHLEY ADAMS

Dear Ashley and ALL of Moore's graduating class – Remember the following:

o    Remain curious
o    Don’t over plan, be open, serendipity leads to opportunities, so remain open and allow yourself to be vulnerable
o    Don’t be in a rush
o    Learn from your mistakes, failures and your successes
o    Persistence is a virtue
o    Never stop learning
o    Write your own story

One of my favorite passages teaches us to just keep moving and never give up

“Would you tell me, which way I ought to go from here?”
“That depends a good deal on where you want to get to “ said the cat
“I don’t much care where” said Alice
“Then it doesn’t much matter which way you go” said the cat
“-so long as I get somewhere”
Oh you are sure to do that” said the cat
“If you only walk long enough”

From Lewis Carroll's, "Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland"

Congratulations and All the Best!
