For my thesis I wanted to combine three things that I care a great deal about: fashion, illustration, and biracialism. My zine, Mixperception, contains a collection of fashion illustrations for five different characters. Each character is of mixed Asian descent, much like myself, and they showcase that with two distinct outfits. Through this zine, I hope to spread awareness of different cultures and clothing.
I am an illustrator who is of Irish and Vietnamese descent. It was the mix of these two heritages that inspired Pale Viet. Most of my illustrations consist of unique characters, clothes, hair, and makeup. When creating these characters, I am careful to incorporate elements of diversity. Being half a person of color, I feel the need to help spread awareness of those who are underrepresented.
